Ever since I was a kid, I've loved this holiday. I'm not very into holiday type things, never have been, not since I reached adulthood, and feel especially averse to things like Easter and Christmas -- not for their religious aspects, but because both have been so paganized, and commercialized. The spirit of charity that gains prominence during Christmas season is a positive, and no Urian is forbidden from celebrating the holiday... But, if I were to choose a specifically Urian Holiday, it would be Thanksgiving.
Setting aside all colonial or national aspects, it is a day set apart just to be thankful, grateful, to come together as families and friends, put away all differences, and enjoy a hearty feast, the hearth light lit in the face of coming winter gloom. Thanksgiving has escaped much of the commercialization and lacks the corruption of symbols and infection by pagan influences. It is simply a good day.
For future Urians, it needs to become more than an American holiday, but a feast for all of us, wherever we dwell, to come together in love and peace, the spirit of gratitude and even charity (as many volunteer on this day to help the less fortunate).
Anyway, just my two cents on it.
God Bless You All & Happy THANKS GIVING
